Their Story

I am proud of my service in the Minnesota Army National Guard, serving as a supply sergeant in Service Battery, HHB, and C Co. 1-151 FA out of Appleton, Montevideo, and Morris, Minnesota. I deployed to Iraq for 14 months in 2004-2005 where I was a unit supply sergeant and our unit pulled security for the US Ambassador, the UN Ambassador, and General Casey in Baghdad, Iraq.

“My deployment to Iraq will always stand out as both my favorite and least favorite memory in the military. We worked out of Saddam's garage at his Green Zone palace, ate in his palace, and swam in his pool. We were there the morning of their first election. We also lost three great men on Feb 21, 2005. Not a day goes by that I dont think of SSG David Day, SSG Jesse Lotka, and 1LT Jason Timmermann. It changed me in ways that I didn't realize or understand until years later.”
