Their Story
To say someone served only during peacetime can unintentionally diminish the significance of their service compared to those who served during recognized conflicts. Reality is that even during so-called "peacetime," service members have often faced hostile forces, dangerous conditions, and risked their lives while carrying out their duties in defense of our nation. Facing down Iran during the hostage crisis was just as dangerous for many service members, underscoring courage and sacrifice.
“His homecoming after 10 months at sea during the Iranian hostage crisis. The long months of silence and not knowing his fate made the moment I saw him on that pier one of the most emotional and joyful of my life.”
