Their Story

My grandfather was a First Gunners Mate in WWII. He saw so much in his years of military service and was proud to be a member of the Navy.

“Even in his 80s and 90s he would go down to the recruiting office and chat with the guys working that post. He would jokingly tell them he wanted to enlist and was so excited when they gave him a Navy hat. He also liked telling us the story of when his ship was hit and he was in shark infested waters. He had a Purple Heart.”
