Their Story
I am honoring my 88-year-old father who has always been proud of his service in the Marine Corps. My oldest son followed in his footsteps and joined the Marines, too. My father was able to attend his grandson's graduation out in San Diego and it was really special to see him relive his own days there and listen as he recounted what they went through as recruits 60 years before. My father was also able to attend both of my son's graduations from the Coast Guard. Very proud Grandpa!
“My father finally finished his college degree while my three siblings and I were young, around grade school. Looking back, it was quite the accomplishment as he worked full-time and went to night school. He got his degree in industrial engineering. When I graduated with a civil engineering degree, he was so proud of me. He created "The Guiding Principles of Engineering" that he typed out (on a typewriter) and framed. He presented it to me upon my college graduation and I have it to this day.”
